Prep 5 and 6 pupils have embarked on their quest to gain their Superstar Crest Awards. The Crest Awards is a nationally recognised project managed by the British Science Association, with the goal of encouraging young people to develop their methodology and practical science skills.

Throughout the year Mr Quance will be setting Prep 5 and 6 a series of individual challenges; as the pupils complete these challenges they will gain valuable experience and build their portfolios of evidence. Towards the end of the Lent term these portfolios will be evaluated and the pupils should gain their certification.

The first Crest award project carried out by Prep 6 was to plan an outdoor gym based on the area surrounding the science block, linking to the human body topic they are now studying. Prep 5 planned and carried out a scientific investigation called "A Hole in My Bucket" where they measured how different materials affected the flow of water out of a container.
