Academic Sixth Form

Well done to our A-Level chemists, Samuel, Archie, Jude, Ian, Kamilla, Sam, Harrison, Noah, Ben and Blythe, who all took part in Round 1 of the Royal Society of Chemistry UK Chemistry Olympiad in January, showing admirable positivity and tenacity and really putting their all into this incredibly demanding competition – a true test of intellect, reason, character and perseverance.

The Chemistry Olympiad seeks to discover the best young chemists across the UK through challenging and engaging them in creative ways to solve problems in chemistry. Papers are being marked now; some will go through to Round 2 of the competition and just four are chosen to represent the UK in the International Chemistry Olympiad.

Mr Drake said that unless you have tried the papers, it’s difficult to express how demanding the problems are – if you are looking for a challenge during lockdown you can have a go at the papers here! https://edu.rsc.org/…/chemistry-olympiad…/1641.article
