Congratulations to Old Shebbearian Sam who has become Countdown’s latest Octochamp! Whilst at Shebbear, Sam took his Mathematics GCSE at the age of 12 and quickly followed this with early entry for all of his Maths A-Levels, obtaining top grades in all of them. He was a member of the Shebbear Maths Team that went through to the UKMT Maths Final in London and was chosen to represent Great Britain at the International Mathematics Olympiad when he was 17. We wish Sam every success in his Countdown quarter final in December.

Meanwhile, Old Shebbearian Salah (class of 2015) is off to study an MPhil in Finance & Economics at the University of Cambridge, Hughes Hall College. Salah graduated from the University of Exeter with a 1st in Economics and Finance BSc (Hons) in 2018 and then spent two years at Bloomberg L.P. specialising in Portfolio Management and Risk.
